World’s Largest Cave Passage

There’s a jungle inside Vietnam’s mammoth cavern. A skyscraper could fit too. Hang Son Doong, or “mountain river cave,” is in a remote part of central Vietnam. Hidden in rugged Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park near the border with Laos, the cave is part of a network of 150 or so caves, many still not surveyed, in the Annamite Mountains. You can read the full story of the cave explorers expedition here.

The famous Crested Saguaro at the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, AZ almost ready to bloom. Rarely (about only one plant in 10,000), a saguaro will grow with a fan-shaped crest of uncontrolled growth at the tip. These oddities of the plant kingdom are known as cristate(or crested) saguaros. Science has not yet fully explained why this mutation occurs. Sadly the above pictured saguaro named Bullwinkle, died in 2010, from too much rain.
